How To Satiate Your Thirst For Adventure

If you have an immense thirst for adventure, it can often be tough to simply sit around your house all the time - going to work each day, going to the grocery store, and doing all the other things that are part of “normal life” but are not part of adventure! For those people who feel a constant longing for adventure, it is important that this desire be fulfilled, and by going about it the right way, this desire can be fulfilled without having to quit that job and leave the grocery store behind forever!

No matter how strong your thirst for adventure is, the key to satisfying this thirst is taking periodic adventures, as these “breaks” from everyday life are often the exact elixir adventurers need to have their sanity restored.

When it comes to planning these miniature adventures, the first thing you need to realize is that you probably have two weeks of vacation days each year, and you should plan to use them wisely. Not only do you have all these vacation days, but you also have at least five 3-day weekends each year (Presidents Day Weekend, Easter Weekend, Memorial Day Weekend, Labor Day Weekend, and Thanksgiving Weekend), and you get even more such weekends on years when New Year’s and Christmas fall in such a way that you get an extra day off; when you combine these lengthy weekends with the vacation days in your pocket, you have 15 or more opportunities throughout the year for lengthy weekends!

If adventure runs thick in your blood, consider creating as many lengthy weekends as possible, and during these weekends, take trips that allow you to fulfill this desire you have to “get out there and do something.” And as you “get out there and do something” – making sure you vary exactly what it is you are “doing” each of these lengthy weekends – you will find that you feel much more satisfied with your weeks than you ever did before!

When it comes time to take a vacation, the extra costs of the trip can sometimes become overwhelming. After all, the cost of the vacation – the travel, the lodging – are rarely all that a vacation entails, as your money will go to plenty more during the trip. In order to minimize the stress that all this extra stuff can cause, you simply need to follow a few tips to budget your spending money correctly!

The most important part of budgeting your vacation spending money is doing enough research to know the extra costs the trip might incur. If you take a ski vacation, you might think that lift tickets, meals, and lodging are all you need money for; but there are often extra equipment repairs or purchases to be made, and a lot more snacks than you expect because of the physical exertion. If you are taking a beach vacation, it might seem like all you will be doing is relaxing on the beach; but actually, there can be plenty of extra costs, such as renting sea kayaks, or renting snorkeling gear, or renting a boat for fishing. When you research before you take a trip, you will be able to budget for these extras instead of being surprised by them.

No matter how much you research, there can still be surprising costs; this is why leaving a cushion is another important part of budgeting for a vacation. After all, if you run into surprise expenses for your travel or lodging, the last thing you will want to do is be forced to dip into your budget for fun stuff in order to pay for this. And if you set aside this extra money for a cushion and do not end up needing it, you can save the money for later!

Finally, you need to go into the trip with a good idea of what you want to spend your money on. This is especially important if you have children; there might be souvenirs or trinkets they think they want, but in the long run, they will be much happier if this money were spent on something else! If you learn how to research and budget your money correctly, you can have a fun, relaxing vacation instead of having a stressful one!
